Hello,
I am using drupal from the first time. I've felt comfortable with setup, main modules administration and even themes 're-configuration' (I'm planing to post some changes I'm working on 'xtemplate' to avoid the use of tables and make it xhtml and css complient).
BESIDES, I'm organizing the main menu with 6 diferent sections:
- 2 are 'about myself' & 'about my project' what is static contents that allow no comments (I'm using the 'page' module for it), and no comments should be allowed
- 1 is 'friends'with a list of all of them and their websites. I'd be keeping it up to date, and no comments should be allowed
- 1 is works my friends did or are doing, and there may be an option for comments on each work. As well as each friend should get rid of 'his/her section'
- 1 is 'get in touch' (I'm thinking of forum module)
- and 1 is 'news', (I'm thinking of blog module)
SO, what I'm asking for is:
- what module should I use better for each section,
- how to allow comments on some of the sections
- what about taxonomy wiyh all this (I read it about taxonomy and vocabulary, but don't get a clue on organizing it properly and administrate it)
Thanx in advance for any help, and please, let me know if I should be more specific in my questions.
[I don't give any URL as I'm testing localhost]
Thanx again,

help and issues of my own
I'm new to drupal as well but i can help you out some.
1. use a page module for the pages about you, the list of friends' websites. then use story modules for works your friends are doing or whatever, and then config. to allow them to change their own content that they post. but only allow them to post stories in that page.
2. to allow comments in some sections and not in others is easy. When u go to post a story or page node, at the top are a few options. It ask for who's posting it, the date and such. But it should also have a block with the options "disable", "read only" and "read/write". If you want comments on that page, select "read/write", and if u don't want comments on that page, select "read only".
3. Now i can't help you with this, cuz i'm alittle confused on how to use it effectively as well. If someone could point the way to s document or something, a tuturial possibly, that'd be awesome!
Hi 'abadlovesong', Thanx f
Hi 'abadlovesong',
Thanx for the interest.
I'd try number 1.
About allowing (and not allowing) comments (number 2), I may try it as well, but if any of my friends sends a new post, he may forget to check 'no comments' (or whatever). I'd like to avoid comments to a list (series) of sections in my site.
And I agree with you about number 3. There may be some tutorial that I missed, but if there's none, there should be one about 'taxonomy' for newbees (or nerds as me) for it will help to manage with drupal nodes organizing.
Thanx, and wait for any more help. It may be nice listening from you,

try this
go to administer > content > settings
set the default for comments to disabled for whatever node types you don't want to have any comments.
as the admin, you can ovverride this when you create that particular type of node, but nobody without administrative permissions can do so.
Taxonomy
Thanx pruner,
I've just tried it. Disallowed all the comments. Where can I (as an admin) allow them for 'friend users' in 'story's or in a 'vocabulary name' (taxonomy)?
Yet, any clue about learning taxonomy? I would like to control comments for taxonomy (?) sections.
Thanx again,
