Absolute Beginner's Guide to Organic Groups (OG)

This guide/tutorial is aimed at the absolute beginner Organic Group user. It is assumed that you are familiar with installing modules and creating and managing content.
Note: This tutorial contains some instruction on Drupal 7.x version of Organic Group, however, the majority of the content is around Drupal 6.x. If you are using Drupal 7.x, check the list on the right panel for Drupal 7.x.

Guide Scenario
You are in charge of a Sports Club's Drupal site. You have been requested to create organic groups for each sport represented at the club.

  • The groups allow for any authenticated member to join a group
  • We will create one group for soccer

Preconditions for completing this scenario

  • You have installed Organic Groups, CCK, Views, notifications modules (Drupal 6 only)
  • Recommended: Create a test user to see user interaction with the group
