I have uploaded all files and changed the settings file and got to install section

3. CONNECTING DRUPAL

My data base is called... lets say for simplicity...

'databasename' and my password is 'mypassword'

and the user name is 'myusername'

i have worked with databases for a while and know about them, so using these details for example i know exactly what i am doing.

this install has got my stumped!! it must be simple and i know i must be missing something very simple.

now i have a prefix that is 'jason_' this i put in to the $db_prefix variable in the settings file.

but it does not say what link to visit to set up the account details so i guessed www.sitename.com/drupal being the folder i installed the scripts in.

but i get the eror message

The MySQL error was: Access denied for user 'databasename'@'localhost' (using password: YES).

what is it that i am missing ?

ah...

just sorted it out i think!

i used the prefix variable before but clearing that variable to '' and adding the content to the username in the line above jason_drupal@...... worked

now connected.

the host im with got hit by a virus - it knocked down my site and I have the same

however I dont know much about websites especially php or databases - i used fantastico to install my site
