I'm contributing a README.txt file for 6.x2.0-alpha2 version. Feel free to modify the file to match your needs.

Could you add the below README.txt file to the Drupal 6 dev tarball?

NOTE: This README.txt file is a draft and incomplete. It's based on the 6.x2.0-alpha2 version. This alpha release is not working properly. But I'm assuming this is normal has it is an alpha version. I'll open another issue for that.
