Want map not link on node page

I've got a pretty simple setup with a CCK location field, and it shows a link to maps.google.com on the node page that works. But I'd rather display the map there on the node page than have a link. I've seen how to print the thing out in a node-specific template file by setting up an array and so on, but I was wondering if there is some option to do this without creating a template file I don't otherwise need.

Not sure why I chose documentation category for this - but editing doesn't seem to let me change that.
