I have a mac / MAMP setup for my local Drupal copy, but I need to be able to edit for Internet Explorer. I can't access the local copy from my PC, so what's the best way to edit my styles for IE?

Get Parallels run windows that way. I have 3 installations of Windows XP on my mac (IE6, IE7, and IE8)...

They do make emulators for Windows that can mimic different versions of IE. They are good, but can be unreliable.

I've tried the emulators and agree that they can be quirky. I actually already have a parallel set up, but I wasn't sure that I'd be able to access my Drupal site from the parallel.

If you are using a localhost you can. For example, if you are using MAMP your localhost is http://localhost:8888. On Parallels it will be http://[my_ip]:8888 (i.e. http://192.168.1.100:8888).

Turns out that running parallels is a much better way than trying to edit on Windows... which is very helpful and very sad (for Microsoft) at the same time.

VirtualBox is completely free: http://www.virtualbox.org/
You'll have to have a copy of Windows and you should be good to go. It was a bit tricky for me to set up WAMP and get my site downloaded from the repository, but once done, it wasn't too bad.

Thanks.

I work on Macs and use PCs at home. Parallels is the best solution I have found for the IE issue. I have three installations of Windows (IE6, IE7, and IE8) on my Mac. It works quite well, rarely do I ever find issues between my Parallel installs and traditional Windows installations.

I only need to run one install of Windows in Paralels for Mac as I use IE Tester. My setup is Windows 7 and then in IE Tester you can run IE 6, 7, 8 and 9 Beta side by side in different tabs. Add a second monitor and you can develop on one screen and test windows browsers on the other. I also edit the Windows host file to point to my local MAMP Pro sites.
