I don't know if anyone has reported this bug already, but each time I try to work with CKEditor in Maximized mode, after clicking on the 'Maximize' button the Toolbar disappears at the moment i click on the text body area and the entire node becomes uneditable. At such times CKE gets kinda so useless, there's no keyboard shortcut or anything to get out of the situation but to reload the page in the browser hence to get back to non-maximized mode. Tested in 3 browsers, same everywhere. This only occurs in a Drupal environment since CKEditor's first beta module, otherwise it works, see:
http://ckeditor.com/demo
Thought someone has noticed it coz ive been struggling with it for quite a while since ive been using CKE's beta.
In case this issue is already known and i missed something or there's a quick fix or anything to normalize this, please tell me and consider this bug report as void.
(CKEditor latest version 3.3.1, Theme: Garland, 2 sidebars)

tiwaz commentedAlas, the problem still persists.
It seemed to be solved after I posted the above, a few days later I installed the actually available 6.x-1.x-dev module instead of 6.x-1.1 and maximized mode worked like a charm after all in all browsers.
I've just upgraded to CKEditor 3.4 also updated to the latest 6.x-1.x-dev module version as of 2010-Sep-16 and maximized mode doesn't work again, the exact same symptoms as before. Oddly enough it does work in Chrome but not in the case of FF (v3.6.10) and IE8.
Tried to restore by downgrading to the earlier working .dev version of CKEditor from my site backups, no joy that way either.

dczepierga commentedCannot reproduce that. For me seems to work.
Could you write all modules u have installed ??

Might be important: this occurs in the case of all three Ckeditor themes.
I used to have 2 other CKedtor-related modules which i finally uninstalled coz they stopped working following the upgrade to 3.4.:
ckeditor_link & ckeditor_swf
Still weird that for some reason maximized mode works in Chrome, only.
Im not sure it has to do anything with my installed modules: i just tried http://drupal.ckeditor.com/ demo site and the maximization problem is present there too, at least in my browser.
dczepierga commentedHmmm in drupal.ckeditor.com i see this bug, but there is old editor. I have drupal with CKEditor module - last DEV version (http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/ckeditor-6.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz) with CKEditor plugin in version 3.4 and here i cannot reproduce this bug.
After update CKEditor plugin and module to the newest version, do u clear cache??
tiwaz commentedYeah, I do clear browser cache after each modification.
Nonetheless, I tried clearing cache again now in IE and FF and still the same.
Ive been using the the .dev module u linked (2010-Sep-16) for two days now.
dczepierga commented2 days ago was new release of CKEditor. Try update to new version ( http://download.cksource.com/CKEditor/CKEditor/CKEditor%203.4.1/ckeditor... ). Maybe this help.
tiwaz commentedThanks, upgrade done, but maximized mode doesnt work, still the same.
dczepierga commentedHmmm it's really weird for me because i try to reinstall drupal, install other modules and everything works for me. Also anyone other can confirm that bug, I want to help u but don't know how...
Did u try to test it on other computers???
tiwaz commentedOf course I've upgraded to the latest .dev (2010-Sep-28 ) module before all this testing.
I've just tested it in my almost-virgin Win XP 32bit in VirtualBox and the results are:
1. Works in IE6
2. Works in Safari
3. Doesnt work, the same problem in FF2
(I use Win7 64bit normally)
Will try to do further testing on other systems later on in the day.
...
Ubuntu Linux:
Works like a charm in Opera.
Doesnt work in Firefox, again, absolutely the same symptoms
(both the latest available stable versions)
...
Another comp in the house with WinXP 32bit
IE 8: not working
FF latest: not working
Would think its one of the add-ons or plugins, but the fact that it neither works in Ubuntu nor in FF2 in the VirtualBox XP (which is without any addons but flash and adobe reader) makes me unsure. Tried FF latest stable on my win7 in safe mode: same problem still.
UPDATE:
No change after upgrading to 6.x-1.2 stable

jcisio commentedI've just tested on http://drupal.ckeditor.com/ and I had this problem! Mac OS X 10.5, Firefox 3.6.10. I noticed that the version in the demo is 3.3.2.
I don't have this problem on my site, however.
dczepierga commentedYes in the demo is old version of CKEditor and this bug is there, but with new CKEditor plugin i don't have any problems.
Without more people that could confirm that bug and help to reproduce it, we can't help because if we can't reproduce sth we also don't know how to fix it.
tiwaz commented@dczepierga
Might help:
- Try testing it in Garland with 2 sidebars, the 2 sidebars often caused me similar issues.
If u PM me I can give u a CKEditor permitted user access to our site so u can test it on your comp to see if it works there.
jcisio commented@dczepierga, will you update that Drupal demo site with the latest versions? I'm not sure if it is because of an old version. I've used the fullscreen feature a few times in the past and never had any problem.
dczepierga commented@tiwaz it's possible to send PM here?? :)
@jcisio i can't update because wwalc go for holidays and i don't have access for this account. I will update it when he come back.
tiwaz commented@dczepierga: yes, i just sent you one. the Contact Tab for registered drupal.org users, u'know :))))
seddass commentedI have the same issues with CKEditor in WinXP, FF3.6. It is important that I am not using Drupal. I am using the latest CKEditor (3.4.2), 3 editors in one page.
twa_priv commentedI had the same issue.
I noticed that the problem only happens for content types where I show the "Page Title" field (module Page Titles http://drupal.org/project/page_title). As soon as I uncheck "Show Field" in the Page Title settings the problem disappears.
thalemn commentedI can concur that the problem exists with FF. Right now I only use Chrome for editing text - Chrome is not showing any problems with the maximize tool.
In FF it seems to behave as though I've hit the tab key. When I click on the maximize button, I am take to the next element. So if I tab through ALL of the elements, I eventually end up with a maximized screen in FF.
So perhaps the issue is related to the known tab bug reported in #5059 (http://dev.ckeditor.com/ticket/5059).
coderintherye commentedJust want to confirm this bug.
Versions:
Firefox: 3.6
Mac: OS X (not my box so don't know point version)
Drupal: 6.19
CKEditor Drupal module: 6.x-1.1
CKEditor core: 3.4
I will try updating the components tomorrow and see if the problem persists.
dwhutton commentedI am experiencing what seems to be the same problem with CKEditor. Although I am not using WYSISYG this post seems to be the closest fit, and I also that the problem also seems to occur on non-Drupal installations. I have not seen any fix reported, and the symptoms seem to come and go unpredictably as people modify/upgrade their configurations.
I attach a screenshot of the problem state: a messed-up area (part of the web page being edited) has appeared below the CKEditor maximized window, thus pushing this window up and making the toolbar at the top disappear. There is no recovery from this state, other than to hit the back button or the refresh button.
I have narrowed down the conditions somewhat. The problem occurs only:
- with Firefox -- not Opera or IE
- on longer pages -- where scrolling is active
- on my laptop's relatively small screen (1024 x 768) -- not on a larger external screen, even though scrolling is active in both situations
- only when I click on the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen -- not when inserting text, or scrolling using the mouse wheel or the cursor buttons
Everything works fine when using CKEditor on another site that is running off the same Drupal codebase (but with hardly any modules enabled). I have used Yslow to examine the javascript files being loaded on both sites and progressively disabled modules on the problem site until now they are loading the same set of javascript files. This made no difference.
My next step is to progressively disable all of the modules that are currently enabled on one site but not on the other until both sites have an identical configuration, hoping that at some point the problem will disappear, thus fingering a module as being possibly the culprit.
My configuration is:
Drupal 6.1.9
CKEditor program 3.4.2
CKEditor module 6.x-1.2
A large number of modules -- all maintained at the most recent version
On the client side:
Windows XP
Firefox 3.6.12
I'd welcome any other suggestions regarding how to narrow down the circumstances that cause this problem and/or to gather diagnostic information.
dwhutton commentedHere is the screenshot which didn't attach to the last post.
dwhutton commentedFollow-up on last two posts: more diagnostic information.
1) The problem does not occur when the maximized window is in source mode.
2) After disabling modules progressively, the problem was narrowed down to the menu module. Enabling this consistently activated the problem on the system under investigation, and disabling caused the problem to disappear. However this information may not be very useful, since the comparison website (that has never exhibited the problem) has the menu module enabled.
Any other suggestions for diagnostic information to gather that may be helpful?
dczepierga commentedWith last DEV version of CKEditor module (6.x-1.x) and CKEditor library 3.6 everything works fine.
This issue is really old so i closed it.
Greetings

ehowland commentedI was having something like this problem but less globally. It was happening on some content types and not on others or maybe it was some pages and not others. It seems to me it was content types, but there was one counter example and it got solved before I proved it one way or another. But on the pages for which the menu was gone it was consistently gone.
I upgraded from ckeditor_3.6.tar.gz to ckeditor_3.6.3_for_drupal_6.zip. It told me to disable the WYSIWYG editor and so I did. Then ckeditor menu bar started showing up reliably.
I believe it was a ckeditor/WYSIWYG modules incompatibility.

francewhoaFor those facing the same challenge with Drupal 7 this was fixed with ckeditor 7.x-1.6 or more recent. Details at https://www.drupal.org/node/1043230
