Is there any decent documentation out there for project.module and project_issue.module out there?
It is non-intuitive out of the box.
Thanks.

Sarah,
I didn't have any trouble using it. It's just like the issue trackers on drupal.org.

Uhmmm...that's great. But I would like some concrete documentation of features, etc. I am getting tired of hunting through non-intuitive places to make changes, etc., and thought there might be a handbook on the project module, as it is (now) a core drupal component.
Thanks.
real docs would be great
having some real docs for project and its relatives would be great. sadly, i've been so busy fixing critical bugs and adding critical new functionality, i haven't had a chance to really spend the hours required to document everything. adding some child pages of http://drupal.org/handbook/config/contribmodules for project and project_issue would be exactly the right thing...
fgm has made some pretty good diagrams explaining the DB schemas involved. he might have some good docs on his site, too, and perhaps could be persuaded to work on fleshing out the initial handbook pages.
i've written extensively on where project is heading. the 2 handouts i gave at DrupalCon for the 2 presentations i did are pretty good summaries. you might find those helpful (at least in the absence of anything else). see these 2 pages for info on the presentations and links to the .pdf files of the handouts:
http://drupal.org/node/86694
http://drupal.org/node/86696
also, i just submitted an issue in the project.module's issue queue about adding docs:
http://drupal.org/node/87175
thanks for helping to get the ball rolling on this. ;)

Thanks so much, dww, for
Thanks so much, dww, for your response; I'm glad you think this is an important priority, too. Project and, even more importantly, project_issue mods are two of the most powerful and intriguing aspects of drupal, if only one has a set of guidelines and best practices for how to set up and use them. In my case, I feel as though I've stumbled through those steps and wish I had more information at my avail.
If I weren't already admittedly mostly clueless, I would be more than happy in writing up documentation, as well.
Thanks.

Sarah, if you use the drupal.org issue tracker to submit bugs, then you'll see how the project module works. (unless your question is how to recode it)
lost as well
yup, i am lost as well - although i suspect possibly project does not work with the taxonomy wrapper module used by category module (although i have yet to come across a module that didnt work with it).
Absolutely no idea how to get started on setting up a project. I see i have a create project - nice looknig form, seemed like i was off to a good start.
then it complains i have to fill in "project field".
eventually i see that it made a container.. with no terms.. so i go and add a term. this give me a select box now.. but still the error.
i see in the settings page it "suggests" i should have sub terms as well - so i add one..
now i actually see some text at the top of the create project form telling me i need to add terms from both and i see both my term and subterm listed in same select box
i select them both.. but still same error..
so i have partially given up.. although i will likely try this out on a non-category site just to make sure - but my guess is it just doesnt work with that module??? but odd i havent found anything with a post on this error msg..
so, i agree .. documentation would be nice

yeah, known to be broken for category.module
project* is known to be broken with category module:
http://drupal.org/node/90188
oh, look, you just found that issue. ;) hehe.
anyway, yeah, i know, we desperately need docs. i'm just totally swamped and haven't had a chance to crank them out, and none of the various folks who've offered to help document project* at various times have actually written any docs. :( alas...
