I stumbled across your module, and it's exactly what I'm looking for, but somehow I expected the solution to involve Features module or Patterns module... I'm somewhat apprehensive to use a module that seems like it might be superseded soon.

Can I ask what your honest opinion is about whether your module is the best route in terms of being future-proof?

Regardless, I think you've created something great here, but it perhaps hasn't been widely publicized enough... A salute your efforts though :)

Hmmm... just saw that the last dev release was Oct 2008, so I suppose my question is probably answered...

There's a lot of confusion around distribution-related modules and utilities (Features, Patterns, Profiler, etc), so can I ask if this has been abandoned?

Yeah, first of all, this isn't a module, it's an install profile that can include custom forms in the installation process, and it predates features by quite a bit, but I think it could work well with features, if you were trying to design a complete packaged distro with a custom installer (like Open atrium, for example).

Thanks Mike! Like I said, I really like the idea -- just doing some thinking on whether it could be more automated...

I've been running lots of install profiles through this weekend, trying to figure out whether any others have a "wizard-like" approaches similar to yours, but no luck so far. I don't suppose you've heard tell of any? Just trying to get an idea of the different approaches that may have been taken...
