I have a site that has thumbnails that are slightly different from the originals; so what I have done is upload the original file, have it create a thumbnail automatically and then overwriting the image.thumbnail.jpg for the thumbnail that I really want using FTP. The problem is, that a day or two later, the thumbnail will just not show up any more, only the original shows. I found that if I add an entry for it in the files table, it works again, but this is a pain in the behind.
Does anyone have any alternate suggestions for using thumbnails NOT created by drupal?
cheers

orionvortex commentedI believe that I am having the same problem as well. When I upload an image it creates thumbnails, etc. but a day or two later the thumbnails no longer appear and only the original image appears. This can be seen here at http://chibabeat.com/image/tid/177. Even if you click on one of the images and click on thumbnail it will give you the original image but just a few days ago there were thumbnails.
