Is there an easy way to include edit/delete links for authenticated users with the appropriate role (e.g., Taxonomy Role) ??

Hah, no. As I recall, Taxonomy Treemenu has all the gear needed to respect modifications to Taxonomy access, but a clear decision was made that it would respect the Taxonomy as served (sorting and data being a view-based change, not functional addition), and modifications should be made to the Taxonomy, not the menus themselves. That kind of functionality could perhaps be added through taxonomy modification modules, such as Taxonomy Manager? Though I don't know if that module has role-based access abilities?
