Backup command error?

I can assure you that the command is legitimate, for I've run it myself before. Was there any other text on the screen?

Also, can you tell me more about yuor current setup? i.e., what version of Apache you're using, what distro of Linux you're running under, etc.?

And here's my error, same thing but status 2:

That's at the top of a 404 file not found error. I should note that this 404 error is the most aggressive of any site that I've put up, any change in capitalization sends it there.

A clean install of Drupal 4.7.3. From the top of my PHPinfo:

does drupal have write access to /tmp and is there space there for the file? it can be quite large depending on the size of your site.

if i run the command by hand seems that it not found the database backup (apache can write to /tmp):

i have the same (ok similar) error, but only on sites which i recovered previously made backup, not on fresh installs. and file iz in servers /tmp directory, only w/o extension and w/ strange name.

Thanks for all of the reports on this. I did some investigation, and it looks like part of the problem was the function backup_page_submit() not behaving properly.

I did some working on that and while I'm not sure if the problem is fixed, I think I've made it less likely to occur.

If folks could download the latest HEAD release and try it out, I'd love to hear what people think.

On the subject of your second error, it makes sense that running that command would fail since the database file is a temporary file and is deleted by backup when finished.

As for the first error, (retval of -1), I am not sure what could cause that to happen.

Looking at the date stamps on HEAD, it looks like my most recent commit last night wasn't built until 07:24 this morning, many hours after I uploaded it. Oops. If I could ask you to download HEAD one more time and give it a try, I'd appreciate it.

I ran into this error today after installing backup.module on a new site. In my case, the answer was in the URL on the error page.

http://www.domain.com/%3Cpre%3Etar%3A+themes/mytheme/node-flexinode-2.tpl.php.save%3A+Cannot+open%3A+Permission+denied%0Atar%3A+Error+exit+delayed+from+previous+errors%0A%3C/pre%3E

When the web server tries to tar up the site, it's running into a file, node-flexinode-2.tpl.php, whose permissions are set such that it cannot be included in the tar. If I chmod this file to 644, the error disappears.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to mark this one as closed since I'm doing things way differently in Drupal 5.
