I have been playing around with the latest dev and I really like all of the new options. Especially the busy/invisible/available options.

However, I think there is a problem with the invisible settings. When I test it with two users and User A goes 'invisible' User B can still see User A with the little grey icon. User A is in invisible status but User B can still see User A.

I can not understand the problem.

Where can the invisible user not see the available user - or reversed?

I have attached a screen shot which shows two users with your online status - to avoid misunderstandings.

When a user changes his status, he can immediately see this change. But, another user as a friend can not immediately see this change.

The friend may see this change:

  • Reload the page, or visit a new page.
  • If Heartbeat has updated the Status display (chat bar friends list, chat windows, QTC friends block).

You are use an upgraded QTC version? If so, drupal and browser caches cleared?

Maybe it's a misunderstanding on my part of what 'invisible' means. In your screenshot, even though user test is 'invisible', you can still see him in your list, correct? In Facebook, or other networking sites, invisible would mean that no one knows that I'm online. I'm completely invisible to my friends. In your screenshot, you can still see that user test is online even though he is using the 'invisible' status. So really, user test is not invisible.

If I 'go invisible', I don't anyone to know that I'm online. I should not show up on your friends list.

In the last version of QTC, we had the option of going offline. I think it's important for users to have this option.

Sorry for the confusion. I hope this clear it up somewhat..

OK, this is not an bug or error.

I expected discussions on the issue invisible status.

It is a question of the function invisible.

Many chats, many variants of invisible. Please make a check with Google chat for example. Google chat displays invisible users to other users. <- But that is not the answer.
 

Invisible vs offline

It is no problem to include the real invisible functionality - real invisible, a user does not appear in list or something.

At this point the question arises: How do we distinguish invisible and offline?

How to implement in Drupal the difference between invisible and offline status?
What is the functional difference?
What are the functional consequences of invisible status and what are the functional consequences of offline status?

I've created a Drupal QTChat group.

I think it is better to discuss in this group the answers to the questions.

please, feel free in this group to open a debate on the topic "QTChat, invisible vs offline". I think this will help to make the module better.

It seems that in Google chat, if you set your status to invisible, this means that no one can see you.

My main question is this...if 'Invisible' doesn't really mean invisible, then what is the difference between invisible and busy? What am I saying to other users if I set my status to invisible but they can still see me?

Hi Quiptime. The invisible status works great now! Thanks!

There is just one problem which is kind of related to this so I'll ask here.

When one of my 'friends' go online, their name shows up in the chat bar but the # of online users stays at 0...in other words chat:0. Sometimes it goes to 1 but usually it's just stuck at 0.

After about 5 minutes, it will change to 1 but if the user goes to a new page, it changes back to 0!

Please see the attached screenshot. In this screenshot, I show you the chatbar for two friends who are online right now. As you can see, on the right, Star has a friend named Peter online but it says Chat:0.

Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of this. In this newest version of QTC, it appears that it will goes from 0 to 1 users only after a conversation has been started. In the last version, it would go from 0 to 1 (or a higher number) if friends signed on even if there is no conversation.

I do not understand what you want to ask me.

But, please test the status function with the coming soon bugfix, see #9, before you reword the question. Maybe it has done then.
