Issue Summary
I have not been able to assign a translator to translate to or from Chinese, Simplified. Unfortunately there's no log error that occurs; the box simply remains unchecked. There is also no php, mysql, or server error that occurs on my machine, so I'm not a whole lot of help tracking this down. I'll post more if I come across anything.

For testing, did you try other languages, or just Simplified Chinese?
Try:
* Spanish
* Portuguese
* Norwegian
* German
Spanish and German have 'simple' names. Norwegian and Portuguese might need name conversion, so I want to see if it's a problem with all language names that need name conversion or something specific to your site.
Thanks!

All of those work fine in addition to Japanese which I also have enabled. I also enabled Chinese, Traditional and tried to assign that but it failed just like the Chinese, Simplified.

I am guessing it has something to do with the "," in the name of those too languages.

This have been fixed and will be in the next release. The problem was only with Chinese, Simplified and Chinese, Traditional.

I'm sorry to re-open this one.
I just upgraded to 6.x-1.5 and this error still appears to me:
"Google translation failed to Chinese, Simplified"
I have tried to change zh-hans to zh-CN (wich seems google choice) in the "Path prefix" without any luck.
Can't seem to be able to change the "Language code" though.
Does anyone have any ideias ?
Thanks in advance.

Google translation failed to Chinese, Simplified is a different issue to the one described in the original issue.
Please open another issue: "Google translation failed to Chinese, Simplified"

i think the "path prefix" is not the problem, drupal language code for Chinese, Simplified is zh-hans, you can try to install a new language, zh-cn as language code instead of zh-hans. Google is using zh-CN also.
