I created a new menu item with "faq" but it doesn't show up with the rest of the other menus in the footermap. Because of that I switched over to the recent dev version but the problem is still there.

Is this with the "faq module" or just a menu item called "faq"?

Okay, this is the same issue that is going on in #874822: user access control. I switched between 1.6 and the dev version and it worked then.

Ok it worked now with the update.

But what about Menu titles, how can I change? Doesnt seem to change if I do it through edit menu. Right now the two menus I have in footermap - their titles are - menu-footer2, menu-footer3
