I have been having a lot of issues with the 4.7.0 version of the categories module. when i pulled out the latest CVS version of it it complained about things missing from core. I figured it was time to upgrade to 4.7.3.

I am not sure what the upgrade path is - is there one???

This is what i did?

- copied over all of 4.7.3 OVER TOP of my 4.7.0 install
- replaced my settings file with oringal
- ran update.php (which reported it needed to update system module DB to 178

and that was about it:

after i was done:

- tinymce no longer worked; it was there as far as admin for it; but it doesnt show up to edit nodes
- i have disabled, re-enabled, download latest cvs version of it - no luck

- all my categorization seems to have been lost

Posibly some other things but that as far as i went - thank god for backups :)

Is there a process to upgrade or do i need to somehow do a complete new install and re-enter all my data.. pretty frickin scary idea!!

BTW - my current system is 4.7.0 except latest (4.7.3) category module and also 4.7.3 version of filter and node module (because these were needed to get new cat mod to work).

Did you look in the handbook? There are detailed instructions somewhere.

I don't think you're supposed to just copy over, you might have some old files that were deleted lying around.

Second, as far as I know, your module should run on 4.7 or 4.7.3, the changes didn't affect the modules at all. But I don't know the categories module, maybe it's a little more...un-modually :). However, since you used the CVS, maybe it is unstable, or maybe they are working on 4.5. You should always use the latest STABLE release package, don't use the cvs version unless you know what you're doing (or the module tells you to). :)

You did use 4.7 versions?

(not saying that if you use 4.7, it will go smoothly, but maybe that's one problem?)
