Error Message when installing Drupal version 7.0 alpha 6 on a 1and1 server

Hello guys,

I have read pretty much everything there is to read on installing Drupal 7 and still I am having trouble with the install.

The version of PHP is : 5.2.13
MYSQL Version is: 5.0

During the install process at "Set up database" I enter in my settings just like they are on 1and1 and I get this message in orange:

Failed to connect to your MySQL database server. MySQL reports the following message: SQLSTATE[00000] [1045] Access denied for user: 'USERNAME@localhost' (Using password: YES).

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct database hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

For more help, see the installation handbook. If you are unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your hosting provider.

I don't know what else I can do. When I select to use a SQLite install everything is just fine. just an FYI this is my DB host: localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock
Any help would do!

This is what the support team at 1and1 instructed me to do:

Thank you for contacting us.

The problem is that drupal is not connecting to the correct socket. You may need to contact drupal to find out how you can specify the socket to use with the MySQL connection. Without the right socket, it will try to use MySQL 4.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

I would call 1and1 back, they should be able to walk you through it.
Unless of course Drupal 7 is too new and not supported yet.
But again, I would ask them to help you achieve this goal.
I have always found 1and1 tech support to be really helpful. I am running Drupal-6.19 now with them.

Sorry to bump guys but I would like to be able to get this up and running... can someone if anyone have any insight on this.

Drupal 7 is not supported.

Drupal 7 is not supported. Please file a bug report (after trying with the latest dev) or investigate yourself.

Adding exclamation marks to a silly comment doesn't make it more useful. Try to provide actual information instead.

The requirements for Drupal 7 state that PHP 5.2 is the minimum requirement. Check the php version in use on your server.

Durante la instalación , si selecciono la MySQL el error mencionado persiste.
En cambio, si durante la instalación, selecciono el Item SQLite entonces funciona, es decir, me permite continuar con la instalación.

Solo hablo español. He pedido disculpas en varias ocasiones por no hablar Inglés.
Estoy haciendo un gran esfuerzo utilizando un idioma que desconozco.
Yo jamás trataría con desprecio a una persona que se esforzara utilizando un idioma que desconoce.
Imagino NO hablas nada de español. Si visitaras mi país estoy seguro de que encontrarías bastante mas comprensión de la que tu estás dispuesto a dar.

En fin, veo que este no es un foro para mi. Pido perdón una vez mas.
No es necesario que respondas este email, me ha quedado clara tu condición.

Again, what error? Do you still get the "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /homepages/17/d288064568/htdocs/alec.es_dir/includes/bootstrap.inc on line 690" message? If so, then you need to upgrade your version of PHP.

If not, please paste the error you see.

Yo uso Drupal 6.19 con 1and1. Quando tuve problemas yo los llame y ellos me ayudaron muchisimo. Has tratado de llamarlos?
El mySQL que yo uso con 1and1 es 5.0.91 y el PHP es 5.2.14
Encontre algo sobre esto en http://faq.1and1.com/dedicated_servers/managed_server/13.html
