Are there any permission options available? It would be really helpful for us to be able to let content admins tag the content themselves

Ah, worked out it's the Adminster Nodes permission. I changed the permission to Adminster Taxonomy in my usage scenario by changing line 18 of masstag.module to 'access arguments' => array('administer taxonomy'),
