On multilingual sites it is often needed to have different limits depending on the language the content is in.

English is a much more compact language compared do for example Spanish, German and Swedish.

A limit of 200 characters for the English text might very well need 15-25% more characters in those languages when translated.

Being able to set the limit for individual languages would thus be a nice addition to this excellent module.

I can see this being implemented by having a "Default limit" and then be able to add language limits for individual languages. The default limit would be used for the default language as well as any language that doesn't have its own unique limit set.

The Drupal 6 version of Maxlength is no longer supported so I'm marking this Closed (works as designed).

I also encourage you, if you haven't already, to upgrade your site to Drupal 8/9. We are actively maintaining that version and you would enjoy all of the other features of the latest version of Drupal.
