I am not sure how to promote or add anything to the front page except articles? Like how could I put a block on the front page or /tagadelics?

From blocks page, follow configure link on the right of the block (e.g.: tagadelic) and insert <front> in the last form.

I see that there is a tagadelic block for each category but I need all the terms in one big block. is that even possible?

use panels module.
make a panels configuration for your customized front page.
and make your front page (in options) the node path of your panel configuration you just created
