The goal of this project should be to support the media project, so video can just be any piece of content we can use anywhere. This is not something to worry about immediately and will not be actually supportable until D7 but I think its worth having that as an end goal to focus on.

Zohar.Babin commentedThat's interesting. We should consider adding this as Kaltura for D7.
What would this involve?
How would you complement media module with Kaltura, without breaking either? Will you create media plugin Media:Kaltura or a Kaltura plugin for Media?
We need to map differences between the modules.

a_webb commentedThe media module for D7 is in heavy development. Images are working, but not video as of now. I think this thread makes a good point. The media module is really going to help us organize and upload our media all in one module. But I really love the flexibility Kaltura CE gives us to edit our videos via the video remix, as well as the way we can customize our skins. I would love the two projects to collaborate where kaltura could be a field in the media module that would allow for an interface with Kaltura SaaS or CE to deliver videos.
I am having problems right now with Kaltura module for drupal. The 2.02 CE works great as its own server, but it is difficult to link into drupal site. The media module could help make this easier if it could provide a solid bridge between a Drupal delivery and a Kaltura repository/production network.

Zohar.Babin commentedPlease see #800060: Compatability with Kaltura framework for more information. At the moment we're focused on getting D6 2.0 and D7 stable and ready. We'll revisit after.

Bevan commentedThere is a D7 module at #1432300: Drupal 7 port that integrates File entities with Kaltura, and exposes rendering options to Media module. It works, but probably still has a few bugs.
