fureigh commentedI've started doing some work along both of those lines — I don't have a patch ready yet, but I'm definitely also interested.

levelos commentedHappy to review and apply a patch, although it's not on my short term radar. If the code ends up being substantial, I might want to implement as a bundled module.

abaddon commentedIm attaching a patch to integrate mailchimp 6.x-2.2 with the standard drupal contact form or a webform built contact form. The new settings relating to the webform contact forms, are the formapi id of the webform contact form (something like "webform_client_form_420", you can get this using the devel module), and the webform field key for the email field to subscribe (usually "email").
Let me know if you will want to integrate this into mailchimp, i can provide 2 separate patches and have the contact form integration separated from webform if needed, or i could write it into a separate module, but could use a couple of hooks to not have to duplicate code, ill need to give it a thought.
For an example of a webform contact form using this functionality you can check ChooseWhat.com/contact. Or for a standard drupal contact form using it, the Tax-Compare.com/contact contact form. This work has been sponsored as part of a project by ChooseWhat LLC.

blackdog commentedThis looks really cool!
It should probably be made into an addon module, i.e Mailchimp form integration, where all issues could be collected. I can create a project if you like.
