We're looking at a model where an organic group is set up for each class, with the teacher as the group administrator and students as members. This would allow many different schools, teachers and classes to be managed on one site.

Have you considered or tried integrating this module with organic groups? If not, would you?

There are no plans to do that at this time. This module is somewhat tied to our internal workflow (which we are currently revising). Version 2.x of this module will actually be more of a framework and the majority of the heavy lifting will be done via an AIR app as we've started to outgrow this project and some of its limitations. I'll accept discussion about this type of feature as I'll be building an assignment studio server as a stand-alone machine and will probably use something like what you describe but at this time there are no plans to do so.

OG will be supported by this project in the coming months. ELMS distribution is groups based and will have the open / assignment studio w/ integrated rubrics available by the end of the Spring semester.
