When digging deeper into the primary navigation, maybe make the active primary link display differently to indicate the user is in that item? Then do the same for the secondary level of navigation.

zirafa commentedI once tried this, but found it to be a little awkward, especially since the breadcrumb does track where you are on the site anyway. Perhaps a slight color change to the text of the primary/secondary links would be adequate, but for instance making the hover state the active state is tacky, imo. Keep it simple, I think.

zirafa commentedOk, I'm ok with these changes. I modified the secondary links to not have a background (i think bold is good enough).
