I just learned that the dev version of Views Bulk Operations now can take actions containing several arguments, which makes it much more powerful – but also makes it overlap with the Rules and Viewsd Integration module.

The Rules support features seems more developed in this module, but I guess the overall framework for VBO has come further. Personally I would think it awsome to have Rules and Views Integration included in the VBO project. It makes sense to combine them, and it would also make more people discover these awsome features.

What will happen is of course up to the maintainers. You guys rock.

As far as I can see one is not able to render a view to a variable within a rule with vbo (which is great for newsletters ...).
So to me there is not really an overlap.

PS: very cool module
PPS: I wish one could also render a panel into a variable as well
