I have a fieldset on my registration node that the user has to fill out with all the admin fields which I have set to restricted, but when viewing the node/add form as an anonymous user all the fields are visible on the form if they are in a fieldset.

As soon as the fields are removed from the fieldset and the node/add form refreshed, the fields are hidden as expected.

Same here...i was trying to put the extra fields for Node Checkout (like a status field, order_id that is written via conditional actions), fields that the user shouldn't see on checkout, so they are checked in the node checkout settings page, but when i group these together in a cck fieldgroup called 'do not edit' so even my content editors know not to touch these, they are visible to anyone as long as they are in a fieldset, even though the node checkout settings page lets you choose these fields to be hidden...make sense? as long as they're not in a cck fieldgroup, all is well.
