Here's a patch with most demanded new features:

  • Provides a block for easy Masquerading
  • Autocomplete username fields in block and settings
  • Better usability

Please review the patch for bugs and other issues.

Masquerade Block needs to have permissions restriction. Will be set for:
User, if masquerading.
User, with 'masquerade as user' or 'masquerade as admin' permissons.

Also, just discovered, when masquerading as anonymous user, you need to login back instead of using switch back. Patch gives better UI. switch back replaced with login back while anonymous masquerading.

Very nice. Seems to be working quite well, although I couldn't figure out what the "quick switch" did.

Once I switched to a user... I saw the "switch back" which is soooooo awesome.

I think it's good minus that initial link :-)

"quick switch' is what the name says. It'll let you masquerade as a predefined user. Although it's already easier with autocomplete field, but some more quick action you can define the quick switch user under masquerade settings.

There was a block visibility problem. Block will be visible to users who are allowed to access it or if the user is masquerading.
