We have comment moderation set for comments by non-registered users because we get a lot of comment spam. Subscriptions sent out alerts for some of the un-approved comments. Is this by design, or is it a bug?

dziemecki commentedI'd have to say that's a bug.
C-Watootsi commentedoh dear :( ... not good news. Something that's easily fixed?
dziemecki commentedNot sure at this point. I'll have to check it out.

two2the8 commentedI can confirm that this is happening on two sites I maintain -- one on 4.6, one on 4.7. I've had to turn the module off because a recent spate of comment spam caused up to 10 emails to go out to some users, all of which pointed to comments that didn't exist.
This problem is discussed (and reportedly solved with a patch, though it didn't work for me) in another issues thread, too: http://drupal.org/node/74727.
I hope this one gets sorted out; it's a real bummer!

two2the8 commented[gentle prodding] Any luck with this? [/gentle prodding]

dziemecki commentedTo be honest, I haven't had a chance to look at this. My real life has been intruding upon my Drupal life. I'm also working on getting this updated for 5.0, so I'm only looking at the worst bugs, right now.

two2the8 commentedThanks a million for the super-quick follow-up, dziemecki. I'll try and get a developer that I work with to take a look at it & see if he can't fix it. I'll keep y'all posted.

arthurf commentedThis was a problem with not checking the comment status before sending. This is fixed if you're using the cron to send.
