Hi All,
just wanted to let everyone know that a client of mine is holding a graphic design contest. They are giving away a free Kicker iPod Docking Station (valued at $349.99) in exchange for the winning logo submission on their site www.gemsen.com/graphic-designer-needed. you can submit as many logos as you want and each counts as its own submission in the contest.
thought it might be a breeze for the graphic designers in the community and since opening yesterday, there is only one submission so little competition.

Obviously your client hasn't
Obviously your client hasn't heard of crowdspring :)
there's also 99designs but
there's also 99designs but they were hoping something would come from their own community and someone that knows their brand. obviously been a bit slow though so I tried reaching out to others.
figured a $349 iPod docking station might have been enough incentive but apparently not.... I may suggest they just change it to cash...

That particular prize limits
That particular prize limits the number of people interested to only those who actually own an ipod. Its just a bad idea to offer an accessory for a product as a prize. Either offer the product itself, or something else that can be of use to the entire community as opposed to a subset.
Thanks ltwinner, I think you
Thanks ltwinner, I think you have a valid point. The prize was chosen because Gem-Sen is the official distributor for Kicker in Canada so while the client is looking for a new logo, they did want to support their brands and create a little buzz around that, especially given the hopes that someone from within their own community would provide a logo. However, I think I may present the idea that the winner have the choice of taking the docking station or cash.
I'll let you know if the prize gets updated. Thanks fro the feedback.

As well, it's only open to
As well, it's only open to residents in Canada and the USA. Why?
I'm in Canada at the moment. But I am not qualified as a resident. So, basically, I'm out. And I'm a graphic designer!
There are a number of tax
There are a number of tax implications for businesses when they run contests like this - I agree that it sucks to limit it but they have to deal with the legalities... I can't count the number of awesome contests I haven't been able to participate in as a canadian resident because they are only open to US residents - Tim Ferriss' entrepreneurial contests easily come to mind...

In a way, they limit their
In a way, they limit their own chance to have some creative works uploaded. But that's the way it goes.
Updated prize: $300 cash
FYI - for all interested, the contest prize has been changed to your choice of free iPod docking station or $300 cash. It's also been extended because of the prize change.
