Hello, I’d like to talk with experienced and talented PHP/Drupal developers who might be available to help us architect and lead development on a new social fundraising platform for Habitat for Humanity International.
Our project is fairly audacious. At it's core, we want to enable our volunteers to blog, upload photos and fundraise around Habitat projects. But there's a lot of ancillary requirements including donation processing, community self-moderation, email tools for users, integration with donor databases, I18N/L10N, integration with Facebook etc. - Users will be interacting with it on everything from 10 year old clunker-desktops in Namibia to the iPad crowd in San Francisco. - This is not for the faint of heart, and we're looking for someone who really knows what they're doing.
To give you a sense of the scope; our system needs to help over a million people who will volunteer their time and energy each year to support Habitat’s mission of eliminating poverty housing. Habitat operates in over 80 countries worldwide through 1500 affiliates, and there are all sorts of projects from home builds in your local town to orphans and vulnerable children in Africa, micro-finance in Asia, disaster relief in Haiti. There are few opportunities out there where you can make more of an impact on the world!
Habitat is based in southern Georgia (USA), but we're creating a virtual team and are ok with remote help if you're good with IM & skype video and some travel. We're hoping to bring together a good group of people and create a strong team-spirit. Expect to join us as we fundraise and get our hands dirty on a housing project in Tajikistan (or somewhere exotic) in the near future. We also hope our work will be worthy enough to give back to the open-source community.
