Make comment module available for entity not for node

Issue Summary

At the moment, comment only for node entity. Can we make it available for all entity type?

This is a new feature request and as such is not critical

As written in the Taxonomy section of http://drupal.org/node/707832, there still is a lot of work to do for the concept of entities to become fully generic.

That includes your request of being able to comment on anything.

Looking forward to working on it in... Drupal 8 ! :c)

Subscribe. IMO, the best way to proceed is to write a D7 contrib module that adds this functionality, then work on getting it into D8 core. I don't have time right now to start such a project, but I hope someone does. If someone does, please post a link to it here. Thanks!

+ alot from me. I'm open to write this as a contrib module for D7 first so we can merge this into core. Shouldn't be that hard imo.

Started a sandbox at http://drupal.org/sandbox/swentel/1160452 - will switch to full project as soon as we have working code available for D7.
