Ok, so I'm just catching us all up on some email communications, in order to try and get this sorted out for everyone... and hopefully this will be helpful to someone other than me, if they're trying out phoneblogz...

So... this is an email communication between me and matt [the originator of phoneblogz]

So, I wrote:

I replied back:

Thanks for your reply...

I've tried what you suggested, but for some reason it still isn't happening...

That is, I've changed the "Default node title" for the audio module to

" Talking Stick: %title"

But the node title still just shows up as "New Phoneblogz Post"

Can you help me figure this out?

Thanks!

Albert

Matt replied:

Basically you're still using XML-RPC posting and you need to use the module posting method as I outlined in one of my e-mails.

The XSPF flash player will be used once you're using the module.

Please reply when you get this so I know that you're successfully receiving my e-mails.

Now, I think there might be some email message that is missing, or maybe I'm just dense, but I can't seem to find the module posting method that you outlined. If you could spell it out step by step, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Albert

http://www.phoneblogz.com/help/drupal.php may be of some use for people watching from home.

This should probably be put into the installation information.

_Note_: ****even after following these instructions and the troubleshooting tips, I still can't figure out how to change the node title.

The root problem here is that when you use XML-RPC with PhoneBlogz, it's the PhoneBlogz server that creates the posts (including title) and uploads it to your blog.

Your account was still set on Drupal XML-RPC posting from what I could see so I manually changed it to the module method. Try now and see if it posts using the module and not XML-RPC. You will need to kick off a cron job so if you don't have one setup do it manually by visiting http://www.yoursite.com/cron.php (obviously substitute your site name in there).

Thanks for your reply, Matt! I appreciate it. I'll let you know how it all goes.

BTW, this is really neat technology.... so thanks for putting it together.

ok, so this is progress... but still... no cigar...

I am now getting an error message when I run the cron job:

ERROR: Incorrect access code and password

However, as far as I can tell the access code is correct and the password is correct.

Maybe the email address of the user on my site [where file is being posted directly] is different from the email address I used to login to the phonblogz.com site?

Thanks for your help

Hmm... I think I figured out a little bit of my own stupidity...

I had entered in the "PIN code" instead of the access code under

settings > phoneblogz...

I'm still having some difficulties getting things to post, but this might be because of my audio module.... so I'll fiddle some more for a bit.

Thanks!

Matt...

****It works!!!*******

Sorry for all the stupid questions, and thanks for all your help.

I suppose that for people watching from home, you should recognize that when you go to the phoneblogz.com site and set things up there are **two** separate Drupal options... one of them is the xmlrpc and the other is the direct posting option.

The other thing that tripped me up is the access code vs PIN code question. Make sure you put the access code, not the PIN code in the settings for:

settings>phoneblogz

-- if you're trying to post directly.

Thanks everyone and good luck. It's some cool functionality.... and I hope my users like it!

Best,
Albert
