The module maintainer has said that the module does not currently support the wysiwyg.module, only directly using TinyMCE, FCKEditor or CKEditor. There is a patch to allow for WYSIWYG + FCKEditor: #797130: Blank draft with Wysiwyg 6.x-2.1 + FCKeditor 2.6.4
I'd love to help figure out a way to make full WYSIWYG.module support occur. This module is really the way to go when using rich text editors; fewer and fewer sites are using directly-installed editors because of the features this module provides.
This issue is mostly a reminder to me to try to get this working, but I haven't done any work yet -- so if anyone else wants to take the lead and begin working on a patch, be my guest!

devkinetic commentedI second adding support for this. I work for a drupal development firm and we always install wysiwyg. It's pretty much the standard now.

darren.ferguson commentedIf someone can provide a patch for it then it will be used, but i don't have the time and currently have not been using drupal for more than a year hence if someone can provide something that works and it is tested by you guys i will more than happily add it to the module.

WildBill commentedI concur that full WYSIWYG compatibility is necessary. Everyone uses the WYSIWYG module these days, including myself.
