The instructions on how to install Drupal in other languages seem to be wrong (see attached screenshot). The instructions say to download the translation package and extract it in the Drupal root. The link to the translation packages is old, imho it should go to http://localize.drupal.org. Also, the only thing that works for me when trying to add a language is downloading the .po file from localize.drupal.org, renaming it to the iso country code (e.g. de.po) and adding that file in a directory "translations" within the profile that I wanna install.

I feel like the process is too complicated but I don't think there's time to fix that, so here's a patch for a suggestion for an improved description. Setting to major because this seems to be a major hurdle to installing Drupal in another language.

See comments at #882164: Adding a language help page during installation is incorrect - seems like there is some kind of mismatch between the files available at localize.drupal.org and the files available at drupal.org (and the appropriate instructions for each)?

As for what site to link to, well, it seems pretty confusing. If you go to drupal.org, it currently tells you localize.drupal.org is the best place to go for translations. But then if you go to localize.drupal.org, there isn't any kind of user-friendly way to download them really (at least not that I could find), and the FAQ page there says you should go back to drupal.org!!

Maybe there is (or should be) an issue in the d.o. webmasters queue related to this? It's not clear what site we should link to in the installer until that all gets sorted out.
