On an uninstall the Mass Contact content type does not get removed and I cannot manually remove the content type - delete does not appear in the Type list.

I have corrected this in the latest commit: http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=413006

To fix your site, all you should need to do is download the latest 6.x-dev copy (which may not be available for up to 12 hours) install the module and uninstall it. You should then be able to delete the node type.

I have followed you instructions and I still see the Mass Contact Message Content Type. :(

@nigel.waters: do you not have the option to delete it on the admin/content/types page, as shown in the attached image?

Hitting delete did not work.It still remained. So, I deleted it manually out of the DB.

Okay. I am curious to know why it didn't go away, but I guess we'll never know.
