Hi All,

I am working on a Virtual Library for the Cameroun Ministry of Health. We are looking for a good hosting solution. My idea is to rent two independent dedicated servers (at two different companies). One Server is for the production system and the other for saving backups. As Hosting services in Cameroun are very expensive and limited we plan to use a hosting provider from the united states or germany. does anybody have advice for selecting a hosting provider overseas for Cameroun?

If you are looking for a dedicated server ,then softlayer or hostgator will be your best choice. If budget is still an issue, then 1&1, theplanet could be the alternative.

Thank you for the answer! Budgetwise 1&1 is the obvious choice. I have read many bad reviews about them. As i have understood they complain about bad service. Is it only about service or as well about performance? I will not need a lot of customer service.

And for 69,99 you get 16GB of RAM, 500GB of space and unlimited traffic. It's your own VPS, so you can tweak the linux box yourself.

It comes with or without Plesk. They have Ubuntu 8.04 as standard with Plesk, PHP5 and MySQL 5, but you can also choose CentOs or Debian.
