We should rename the middle section from "Things We Made With Drupal" to "Websites We Made With Drupal".
"Things" is vague and doesn't tell. "Websites" informs and does more to help the newbie figure out what Drupal is.
I acknowledge that you can build other stuff that is not a website with D. But, I think that people who are newbies are very much more likely looking for a website solution. Also, I don't recall any case studies on D.o that were not websites.

gdemetI'd favor something even shorter, like "Sites Made With Drupal". For those who don't yet fully understand the community nature of Drupal, the "We" in the current copy could be read to suggest that these sites were made by the same people who run the drupal.org site. We get enough errant support requests from people who think that we're responsible for every Drupal site on the Web as it is, and I don't think there's any need to further that confusion.
I understand the SEO advantages of using "Website", but I think in this context it's a little clunky; hopefully we can use "website" elsewhere in the page's copy, but I'd guess there's probably a fair number of folks who also search for phrases like "sites made with Drupal" as well.

ben finklea commented"Sites Made With Drupal" is clear enough and I'm not insistent on the usage of "Websites" but think it's a good idea. However, it would be helpful if you could clarify what you mean by "clunky". "Websites" is less ambiguous than "Sites". If they were unambiguously equivalent then I would agree that shorter is better. It's not that people wouldn't get it, it's that they would have to think less in order to get it. Is there a space issue?
If we can get "Website/s" into the banner then I'm less concerned but still would err on the side of "Websites" in this context.
I think we can agree that "Things" is meaningless and has to go. Can we use "Websites" for now and if we get it into the site in other places then shorten it?
Cheers, --Ben

lisarex commentedI've changed it to say 'Sites We Made with Drupal'
I think 'Websites' would look odd and a little old fashioned, so I'm hoping we can slip 'websites' into the smaller text elsewhere on the page.
The issue for discussing the other home page text is here #895634: The word "Website" doesn't appear on the home page

gdemetI'd prefer this read "Sites Made with Drupal" for the reasons I explained in #1, which are backed up in this comment:

I understand the argument behind including the word "We", but I think it just ends up being confusing to too many individuals.

lisarex commentedSorry about the 'We' getting left in. Now fixed and will appear on the site in a moment.
