It's confusing that there are 4 distinct steps in the "Get Started with Drupal" section but the first two sections go to the same place. Instead, have "Download" go to http://redesign.drupal.org/node/880546 and "Extend" should go to a page called "Extend Drupal". The page at http://redesign.drupal.org/download is the combo of Download Drupal and Extend Drupal. I suggest renaming (and re-pathing) it to "Extend Drupal".
Then, that would free up the path "download" so you could create a page just for downloading Drupal.
On the Download page, provide one link to the Extend page and vice versa.

lisarex commentedI'm of the opinion that we should proceed on the redesign as planned and muck stuff around LATER, after we've got it live, when we can test / make decisions based on usage.
Let's come back to this after the MVP is live.

drummI'm okay with changing the "(1) Download Drupal" link to go to the latest Drupal core release node, same as the "Download Drupal 6.19" button.
Changing Download & Extend to Extend and creating a Download page - I am not okay with this. How people get up and running with Drupal is something that MBD spent some time researching, and I think we need to stick to the prototype, and not be changing the structure of that process. We of course should continuously re-evaluate and improve, but that's not something to do now without user testing and research.

tvn commentedNot sure if this issue is still present. On the /start page "Download Drupal" and "Extend Drupal" are not links.
