Not sure why you'd leave out retweets but include original only tweets in the Backtweet counts. Would be great to be able to select if you want to track one, the other, or both.

Thanks for the feedback. It didn't seem as if the retweets would be useful in context of a comment thread in a post. I will look into adding a toggle to allow those who want to include retweets to do so.

I ask for this reason: I'd like to have a cached value of how many times a post is tweeted/retweeted, have a views filter for that value, and then be able to create a view that shows the most tweeted stories on my site. check out hypem.com/twitter to see another site's implementation of something similar.
