Issue Summary
If I turn on Checkout in my 4.7 install, when I edit a page it always checks it out to me. This happens if I navigate away without changing anything or clicking preview or submit. It also happens if I submit without checking the box to check out the node. There seems to be no way to not check the item out. Also, the only way to release nodes appears to be the cron.

I'm completely perplexed about what is happening with checkout - when I try to test it now it doesn't work either, but the other way round! It never checks anything out! I think this is due to a weirdness in the way that hook_exit works. Can you tell me exactly what version of Drupal you are running?

I was trying this on 4.7.3 but am upgrading to 4.7.4 today. I can let you know when I finish how it acts.

Does the same thing for me in 4.7.4...keeps things checked out all the time.
