Failed DB during setup

I am trying to install a new fresh copy of Drupal 6 on my site with php 5.2 and MySql 14.12 distribution 5.084. I have created successfully the db and i can connect to it using the credentials from my ISP adin panel. But during installation of drupal it does not seems to work and withoutgiving any error message it just cleared the database values (installation screen). It seems that it is looping without and error message.
Did i miss something here? Please help. Thanks. John

I'm not sure the cause, but this issue seems to have been around a while.

I just re-installed and experienced the same thing. The solution was to open the settings.php file and enter the database connection information directly. Just update the line in the file with the appropriate credentials and database name. Refresh the install page and it should proceed.

I'm having the same situation. I'll try the above fix, and see if it helps me. It's rather frustrating.

I'm also talking in #drupal on the freenode IRC right now.

EDIT: Woo hoo! This is a working fix!
