I have a use case for some coaches that I would like to be able to run reverse proximity, namely that the when the search is ran on a location Only those results that the location is in range of displays. This is different than the user searching a 3 - 5 mile radius were as we are checking if the outside objects radius overlaps the user's location.

i have this working haphazardly on location/gmap, but would like to see it here .

Do you mean that you would like to type in a location (e.g. an address or zipcode/post code) and see what's nearby?

If this isn't what you mean, perhaps you could try describing your use case in a bit more detail.
