Slideshows as ppt, pptx or odp refuse to convert to text.
Apparently, there are no converter set for direct conversion from ppt to text
However, the pdf conversion works well.
I tried to move the mime handlers for text at the bottom, hoping the conversion would possibly occur against pdf, but this does not help.

Additional info:
When uploading a pdf created from a ppt or odp file, the text conversion is done actually, it is made available as the corresponding file format. However, the txt preview does not work: the txt preview appears with a link, but when pressing on, it displays nothing and focuses back to thumbnail.

In short: a slide show presentation will never be pre-viewable as text, whenever it is created by Open Office or Powerpoint, and the trick is smart enough to guess that a pdf file was originally a presentation so it will not be previewable in txt...

Why am I looking for a perfect txt conversion:
To get Apache Solr searching in files, which works as long as a text version of the file is made available by File Framework and showing up correctly in preview mode. Both conditions seem needed

Closing the issue. It was inactive for a long time & it's related to a Drupal Version which is not supported anymore
