I'm afraid it won't, there still are windows 2000 computers that run internet explorer 6 ... so ie7 is yet another browser to debug

IE7 is a bane to Drupal and everything else except ASP-based

My clients complained that they could not login to Drupal-site (they are using IE7) but since they are sponsored by Microsoft Foundation Campaign, they have to use everything Microsoft

A thread about non-login using IE7 is already here *Some Users Can't Login in IE

Please issue a problem if you encounter difficulties with IE 7 and older

About IE breaking themes and making Drupal sites ugly, I had experienced that with the SpreadFirefox themes where the Mission Box is way below, see the proof using IE, it looks sucks using IE

For those of you windows users interested, here are a couple of tools to help you control of automatic installation of IE7;

  • Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 7
    The Internet Explorer 7 Blocker Toolkit enables IT Administrators to disable automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 7 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates and the Windows Update and Microsoft Update sites.
  • IntelliAdmin IE7 Blocking Tool
    IntelliAdmin IE7 Blocking Tool enables network administrators to block the automatic installation of IE7 via Windows Updates. It creates the registry key DoNotAllowIE70 that Microsoft provides to prevent the automatic installation of IE7. The program can enables/disable the registry key remotely on selected machines over the network (Admin access required).

I hope these help...

I just tested and can successfully logon to all my Drupal based sites and several friends sites using ie7 without issue. These are Apache 2 and IIS6 sites. IE7 logon issue's have got to be traced down at some point and I am going to guess it will show to be a web server or php configuration issue. Unfortunatly without detailed error reports, issues it will remain spotty and hard to actually narrow down to a root cause.

Drupal.org has a BlueBeach theme issue that will need to be addressed at some point which is a different issue.

I think in the long run IE7 will be the better browser to develop for than IE6. However, until we get there...I think it is real important for folks talking about issues with Internet Explorer to identify whether they're using IE6 or IE7. Listing the OS will also help. For those that have been around for awhile, I think we'll find this whole experience a lot like the days of Netscape 4.7 and Netscape 6 (and Mozilla 1.0?) just arriving to the scene. In other words a painful migration, but worth the journey.

Now my question to the Drupal.org theme developers. What is the best way for the community to contribute in improving the Bluebeach theme here at Drupal.org? I don't think I've ever ran it into it on the CVS. Then again, I may just have overlooked it. Thanks.

Over the last few months I've been developing using a handy standalone version of IE7 provided by Tredosoft.com. This is much better than simply installing IE7 via Windows Update, because that will replace your previous IE installation completely, thus making it impossible to check your design in IE6. Anyway, I'm afraid the advent of IE7 doesn't mean a significant simplification for theme developers — as long as IE6 and IE5.5 remain in reasonably wide use (and they will, by the looks of it) it will be necessary to debug one's designs against those arcane versions.

But yes, IE7 is a lot better than preceding IE versions, so somewhere in the future it may indeed start to spare us the debugging headache.

Alternately you can install IE7 and use the standalone IE6 (and even older versions) available at Evolt, and use the instructions at Joe Maddalone's website

Recently I bumped into problems with my theme in IE7 as well (the Friendselectric theme). When doing some googling a discovered this website, which shows you screenshots of your website in various browsers. A good solution for people who don't want to/can install various browsers themselves:
