Email validation failed on valid email address

Hi,

I tried to add a user to my site but received an invalid email address error. However, the email address is in use by this person and works fine. It consisted of three letters before the @ and a valid .org URL of an existing website afterward.

I would appreciate any insight from others as to why this email is invalid to Drupal and how to fix it.
