When doing work and switching between tabs the admin menu tends to get in the way. Everytime I pass my mouse over it a dropdown occurs. If the menu was on the side of the browser it would eliminate this problem.

Is it possible to organize it as a sidebar menu?

However, marking as duplicate of #220100: Add support to detect hover intent (no dependencies added). You can follow up on that issue to track its status instead. If any information from this issue is missing in the other issue, please make sure you provide it over there.
