I keep having a problem with the amazon module (Amazon Module 6.x-1.1). The issue is that even though I'm only trying to load the first page of search results (just ten books), frequently, it takes well over a minute to get results - and sometimes it just times out altogether, I get no results, and I get "Error accessing Amazon AWS web service. HTTP result code=-110, error=Connection timed out" in the watchdog dblog. This "Connection timed out" error also happens very often when I try to run a test on Amazon Test (admin/settings/amazon/test).
I've tried many different ASIN's in the test.

I'm using Drupal 6.17, and I'm on GoDaddy shared hosting.

Any ideas on how to solve this error and speed up the search results?

Please try your application in a different environment. I think that you'll find it's Godaddy's infrastructure that's the problem. You should attempt to verify this by visiting admin/settings/amazon/test and entering an ASIN. If it's really slow...

On my local install on my laptop, I just tried using the ""Search Amazon" search block with category "Books" and search phrase "Twain" and it came back with results in about 3 seconds. That's over a normal DSL-type link.

If you have a specific search phrase that is slow, please let me know about it and I'll investigate that.
