I just installed Drupal and for the admin account, used my email address. I didn't expect to get a notification because I don't have an email server running on my development computer. I'd like to be able to test email functionality but it's a whole new subject area for me and my focus now is learning Drupal.

Do I need to configure a mail server (under OS X, i believe it's postfix) in order to get outgoing mail working or is there a simpler way? What do others do?
