Looking for help to further my wife's dream. Her plan: to change the face of her country, and Africa as a whole, by educating and empowering its girls. She is from West Africa and finishing a PhD in Education at Syracuse University. We started Starfish International (now a 501c3!!!) with our life savings and have begun working with some of the most inspiring girls you could ever imagine. I created a "website" with MicroSoft Business website to showcase the work! I'd love to get help with Drupal from someone who is interested in making a huge impact in the lives of so many. In addition, we are always looking for volunteers who would like to come to Africa with us to work with our girls! Maybe even give them Drupal knowledge to help empower them. Check out our site: starfishinternational.org! I look forward to working with some great Drupal community members!
David :)

It would really depend on what you wanted to do with your website as to the approach to go with drupal. If you were thinking of doing an online shop or a learning online website in the near future you might want to consider using a profile for such a site now rather than struggle to intergrate the modules later. Likewise you should decide if drupal 7 is complete enough for you to start working on that as it could be that you no sooner finish it in drupal 6 and you'll be trying to convert it into drupal 7.

As for help you, the community here is great so if you ask any questions on the forum or in the irc room you will most likely find plenty of people willing to help you out. Google is also very good as there are plenty of tutorials and screencasts about drupal.
