I was searching a Drupal module that can run a mix of online and offline contributions to project presented by users, which don't have to be necessarily be a donation orientated project, if not as well just private loans, investments or public subventions. Donation Goal came the nearest to this idea. But I found the name "Donation Goal" not really correct as the modul can more than just collect some donations. On my site I describe it therefore in a more general way: "Contribution Goal" (See my site how to about) -
Therefore here my first suggestions: - Could it be useful to give donation goal an other name? - Something that describe better that the money saved so far can come from more sources than donations? -
The second suggestions is linked to the other feature requests - A User-UI that allow to describe more detailed background and motivations of the direct payments through paypal, and an node-owner UI that allow to add details about contributions to the goal through other channels.

haffmans commentedA name change would be confusing and - especially for the 6.x branch. To me "Donation Goal" serves the purpose for the module. Keep in mind that a name like "Contribution Goal" may also be too vague to new users, since it does not cover the financial aspect of the contribution. Therefore I will not change the name of the module.
I will, in the future, look into making it possible for the "donation goal" to be added to any sort of content type, rather than using its own specific content type (e.g. through a CCK field). Feel free to continue to discuss such options in this issue.
For the second suggestion (manually entering donations): please see #895702: support generic/override of payment method.
As I at this moment do not have the time to actively develop this module myself, feel free to submit patches with features etc. you'd like to see.
